I live with my 6-year-old child and my husband on the third floor. About six months ago, new neighbors moved to our block of flats, on the upper floor. It was a middle-aged couple with no children but with their own problems. And very soon most of us began suffering from their problems.
At least twice a week we could hear strange exclamations from the upper floor like: It's working! At last! It's really working! I didn't know what was working exactly but it sounded really strange. Soon my child began wondering what was working there! "Perhaps, their TV set or washing machine was broken and now it works, that's why they are so glad and shout so loudly!" - supposed I.
Actually, I myself believed in this explanation until my husband dissuaded me: "Do you really think their TV set gets broken each three days? What nonsense! I think they would throw it away. There must be something else..."
Once I was going home with a woman from our floor. We did shopping together, occasionally, and were talking about this and that... When I started to complain about strange neighbors above she told me the following information: "I'm sick and tired of their problem too, my dear!" "What problem?" - I asked.
"Didn't you know? He is an impotent! Or something like that... All I know is that he can't use Viagra because of a weak heart. Therefore, they experiment with many methods to make his...you know...stand up. As I understand not everything helps and when something does they can't help crying with joy "it's working, it's working!" They're just sick!"
"Thanks God they don't shout what exactly is working!" - I thought while entering my apartment, - "Aren't they ashamed that a lot of people can hear that? They are really sick!"
Some days after, in the evening, I was cooking and waiting for my husband to come from work. Suddenly I heard familiar exclamations: "Oh, look! It's working! Go on!" I blushed and looked at my child. "What's that, mummy? Again the TV set?" - he asked. "Yes, Michael, perhaps the TV set", - I replied. I was already getting angry but everything got quiet and I felt relieved. However, in less than three minutes I heard something that made me blushed much more! Hearing those sounds Michael looked at me questioning. "Don't ask, Michael, mummy doesn't know what it is!" - said I.
That was enough to go upstairs and to make a scene! So did I do. A middle-aged woman poened the door. I thought I could be heard within a mile from the place where I was standing. I told her that I didn't care if her husband was an impotent and I didn't want to hear how they were making sex, and that they're ill-bred, sick, creating problems people....
When I finished, the woman was as white as a sheet and couldn't say a word. I was just about to leave when an old woman appeared at the door and asked the younger one in a trembling, weak voice: "What's the matter, my dear? Why is this woman shouting at you?"
Suddenly the gift of speech returned to that woman and she explained me that she lived with her old mother alone and didn't understand what I was talking about. I was shocked! I knocked on the wrong door! I was ashamed! With great effort I apologized and quickly moved to my floor. Almost all the neighbors from my floor came out of their apartments. They were looking at me as at a wild animal! I quickly shut the door.
What a shame! But where did this couple live then? By the way, since that scene I've never heard anything from the above floor. I guess they were at home at that moment and understood what was waiting for them in case they didn't stop! That's why I believe that my plan worked. However, now most of our neighbors are afraid of me and look at me like at a madwoman. I hope it will pass soon. As for me, I still apologize when meet that woman with her old mother...
