I live on the ground floor. All the women from our floor and from above floors are friends. Every evening they gather together in the yard to chatter.They occupy the longest bench which is almost under the windows and chatter so loudly and noisy that all the men from our block of flats call them chatterboxes. Sometimes my mother visits their "female club". I heard this story from her.
Almost every evening one of our neighbour, named Anna (40 years old), opened a new chat with her old phrase, I would rather say a fixed phrase: "God knows how I'm sexually hungry!" Her problem was well-known in all our...district -- her husband was impotent. She never missed a chance to suffer how hard her life without a man was. All other "members of the club" were so tired already of listening to one and the same story and always tried to change the subject as quickly as possible. But it seldom worked. Because of this nobody really liked Anna.
Another our neighbour, Helen by name (38 years old), is a pharmacist and works at the pharmacy which is not far from our block. She seldom goes out for a chat because she's always too busy. That's why other women (and men) know almost nothing about her and never expect her to join them. Maybe because of her secretivety they didn't like Helen too. I say "didn't" because one evening her appearance was very successful and she at once became a "rightful member of the club"...
It was a warm summer evening. One chatterbox called another one and she called another one, the fourth saw them from the window.......Finally almost all the neighbours were sitting on the bench. Nobody, of course, called Anna. She came up herself (as usual) and because of the excess of energy (you know -- no sexual life..) started a conversation first.
"God! I'm so sexually hungry! I almost hate my husband for that! Certainly, I understand it's not his fault... But why must I suffer? You know he is at work every day even at weekends but I 'm not jealous--who needs an impotent! Maybe I should find a lover for myself....a real man..." and so on.
Somebody had to stop it. That evening Helen was sitting on the bench too. She, however, heard this story for the first time and was very surprised to hear it. While Anna was chattering, suffering and almost crying, Helen's face looked more and more bewildered. Suddenly she cut Anna short:
"Why? Doesn't Viagra help him?' 'Viagra? We've never tried it. The doctor says in his case it's useless"-- answered Anna being glad that at least somebody was interested in her problem. "What do you mean by saying "we've never tried"? Your husband buys Viagra at my pharmacy every weekend. Once I asked him if it was helpful and he said it worked for 100%! Besides he always looks so happy and.....I thought you....mmm......Well, I'd rather go!"
Blushing and getting embarrassed Helen quickly walked away. It was too late when she understood that she was discovering Anna's husband's little secret. Mom says there was silence for about 3 minutes. Then somebody said: "Interesting..." Anna stood up abruptly and went home.
That night all the neighbours (including me) could hear the quarreling of a "poor impotent" and his "sexually hungry" wife. Soon they divorced and he married his lover.
