Diabetes mellitus – a health disorder, affecting more than 170 million people worldwide, - is definitely one of the most serious health menaces these days. However, the disorder itself is not new for the human race. It has been known to people even in the ancient times; and since then we have already identified how diabetes appears, why it is dangerous to people, and how it can be treated.

Now we know that only 5-10% of diabetes cases are caused by genetic predisposition or other factors that we cannot influence or change. The rest of diabetes statistics are the cases of type 2 diabetes, which mostly develop as the consequence of unhealthy diet, uncontrolled high blood pressure, overweight, obesity, and lack of physical exercising.

Perhaps, nowadays diabetes should be treated as a warning to a human race; warning, which calls us to give up unhealthy lifestyle, to choose natural and healthy foods, prepared in the own kitchen instead of some ready-made snacks, consumed on the go, and to prefer football game, fitness course or just regular walking in the park to a computer game or TV series.

According to one disputable, but still existing theory, it was physical work, which turned a monkey into a human being. In case with diabetes, it seems clear that it is physical work, which can turn a human being into a healthy human being.

Of course, diabetes is not only about keeping a proper lifestyle. Often it affects even those people, who lead an exemplary lifestyle. In any case, diabetes can be scary, but the human kind made a great progress in defeating this disorder. So, today people with diabetes can live long and happy lives. The knowledge, which has being accumulated during many centuries, is now transformed into the break-through remedies against diabetes. And though we still have no cures, diabetes is no longer a sentence, it is a common diagnose of a health disorder, which can be safely and effectively managed, controlled and treated.
