My name is Jennifer; I'm 29 years old. I've been married for 9 years. To tell the truth, I'm very happy to be his wife, especially now when we are preparing to become parents. Though, there were times when I suffered from unshared love.
He was so cute! I couldn't help falling in love with him. But James was too handsome for me. The main obstacle to our mutual love was... my skin (not mentioning all the others, less serious ones). Pimples didn't leave any free place on my cheeks, shoulders, and back. I could hide shoulders and back under some pullover or T-shirt; my face, however, was always open for mocking and disgust. You cannot even imagine how I suffered from all this! I tried so hard to look better; therefore, a thick layer of make-up was always on my face. It hid more or less successfully all my defects, and I looked almost attractive, especially in the evening, when it was dark.
Certainly, such guy as James wouldn't even look my way. So he didn't. Nevertheless, I kept on dreaming of becoming at least his friend, if not his girl-friend. It cost me much effort to reach the aim, but I succeeded in that. When it happened I got to know he had no serious relationships with anyone at that time. It was a pleasant surprise for me and I decided to attack!
Soon we were close enough to talk on intimate topics, but only as friends. From time to time I put less and less make-up on my face. Since James didn't react, I believed he just didn't care about my zits. I was sure he got used to me and liked me as I was. However, he didn't make any further steps in our relationships. It was so difficult for me to hide my love! Finally, I decided to show my cards.
James was very surprised to know I loved him not as a friend. I was disappointed, still I hoped for the positive answer. What I heard was, "Jenny, I don't know what to say... I do love you... but only as my friend. My best friend! You see, you are not my type..." At that moment I thought my life was over! I understood he would never be mine and I was sure it was because of my ugly skin. So I made up my mind to start treating it no matter how expensive it would be. I hoped, maybe some day...
Waiting for the doctor in his office, I noticed a guy with the same problem as mine. However, his face wasn't ugly; on the contrary, he looked even cute. I caught myself at gazing at him. He must have noticed that too, and smiled. This is how I met my future husband Thomas. Very soon I absolutely forgot about James and fell in love with Thomas. We visited the same doctor at the same time. Though the treatment never improved the state of our skin, we found there a far more important thing - love. In 5 months we got married.
9 years have passed. Who could imagine I would meet my love in such a place! We still have the same problem with skin; though, actually, it's not a problem, since we are together. We just don't see each other's defects and we are happy... even with acne.
