Kelly and I were always friends. Actually, we still are. By the way, my name is Lora. I am 30 now, the same as my friend. We both have families and caring husbands. However, the fact that we are married seems to be something unreal and more like a joke or a myth for many of our friends. You see, they say that such girls as Kelly and I and marriage are incompatible things, because... Well, youll understand why. Here is our story.
Kelly and I were very popular among guys. They treated us as the best and the prettiest girls in our University. Other girls envied, because boys often quarrelled and fought because of us, and, frankly speaking, we enjoyed that; but who wouldn't?
Of course, being such cool girls, we looked for special guys - princes on white horses, as they say. Our ideal man had to be handsome, sexy, well built, and with a good sense of humour. We couldn't even imagine any other boy to be near. At least I couldn't. Certainly, we broke many hearts. Each of our guys was attractive, strong, rich... but there always was something that prevented him from meeting all our requirements.
However, Kelly turned out to be less exigent than me and stopped at one guy when we graduated from the University. I was disappointed, to put it mildly. Actually, I was shocked! Not because she decided to spend all her free time with her one and only, but because... you should have seen him! He was so ugly: a tall, skinny, rather poor engineer of 35 years old!
At first I thought she was joking. I would never even look at such kind of man. But when Kelly invited me to their wedding, I understood it was not a joke. It was love, as she said. "Well, of course, I am happy for you, but I would never marry such a man!" replied I to her invitation. Kelly just laughed, "We shall see when love comes to you."
The wedding was rather poor. Nevertheless, Kelly was brilliant as usual and shone with beauty and happiness. However, I couldn't help thinking the man beside her was not her kind! Moreover, all his friends were like him - just ugly! When one of them began sticking to me I lost all my patience and, referring to a terrible headache, left the party.
He was completely drunk, his face was covered with acne and he smelt bad. His only plus was his well-built body. He worked in a gym, as I understood from his babbling. "It is Kevin. He is a good guy and he does not work in that gym, he is its owner," Kelly told me some days after, "You should get to know him better." "Never!" I cut off, "He is not my type!"
Some weeks later Kelly's husband had his birthday and, certainly, I was invited. Among all those useless "men" there was one who definitely picked out. Though his face was covered with pimples, he was the only one worth to look at. "Let me introduce you a friend of mine and my husband: this is Kevin. However, I am positive you have met before." I heard suddenly Kelly's voice.
Now he looked like a real gentleman: an expensive suit, nice perfume, stylish haircut..." and the owner of a gym club," I thought. As for his rough skin, it even stressed his manliness and strength. He came up to me and made excuses for that night when he took too much.
That evening I spent with him, tet-a tet, though there were many people around. Kevin turned out to be very sociable, well-mannered, and kind guy, actually, as Kelly's husband, I must admit. I think you have already understood what happened next. A year later we had a beautiful wedding. Now I do not care when somebody says he is not my kind. Kevin is an ideal for me and I keep on falling in love with him even more after 5 years of our marriage!
