Its a pity that people nowadays, facing the choice whether to start smoking or not for the first time, do not behave like Shakespeares Hamlet, languishing in answering the Sacral Question of all times and people: "To be or not to be".
Now we mostly need just a few seconds to keep our mind on trying the first cigarette. And the worst thing is that we spend these seconds not estimating all pros and contras of smoking but looking for a lighter.
The poisoning of people by their rivals was the reality of Hamlets time and the reality of our time is poisoning of people by themselves. I would say that nowadays the majority of human beings on Earth are fond of masochism, performing the slow hara-kiri to their own organisms. Truly, we are unique creatures. Can you recall at least one more being on Earth, killing its own organism being of sound mind?
Why do people do so? Why do they kill themselves with the help of cigarettes in the world full of dangers, even without smoking?
I think that there are two basic reasons why people do not quit smoking:
1. They simply do not want to stop. 2. They can not do that.
Let us look at each of these points with greater attention. Human will or its absence is a serious reason why people quit or do not quit smoking. Mark Twain joked: To quit smoking is not difficult; I did it thousands of times. Indeed, many smokers quit this habit in the evening and start a new cigarette in the morning.
Decision to quit should be as strong and firm as the decision to get married. I am sure that all the men are able to make such a decision (because most of them are married). Men are clever creatures and they can put at scale all the prospects of smoking (a bunch of diseases) and prospects of quitting (getting rid of that bunch). Actually, the decision itself is the 50% of success, so think about it.
Now let us talk about the second reason why people do not quit smoking. What are those factors, which make a man unable to give up the bad habit? Many smokers have a strong desire to quit but they cannot do that. I would explain it by two statements:
1. Smoking is a type of addiction, namely addiction to nicotine. Addiction to anything (cigarettes, alcohol or women) works in our minds. It looks like a small imp, sitting in the brains and telling you: Hey, man, dont be a dweeb. Just give me another portion of poison. The main weapon against addiction is human will, because it also works in our minds.

2. Withdrawal symptoms this is a real problem, I must admit. People do not quit smoking because they are frightened by a terrible syndrome, which starts after smoking cessation. The small imp in our heads gets very angry and makes all the muscles ache, increases the irritability, anger and depression he makes everything to force us to give up our no smoking idea. This is the hardest moment for our will not no break into pieces. But there is the remedy to support it in fighting with the withdrawal symptoms. It is Zyban an oral pill, helping people overcome nicotine addiction by killing that small imp.
So, if you have already made up your mind to quit smoking, take Zyban and dont stop at the halfway.
