Wherefrom the Legs of Smoking Dangers Grow

Striking statistics and endless lists of dangers of smoking still can’t make less the number of deliberate self-murderers. Good advertisement and wide popularization of tobacco products force approximately 90 000 kids per day to start smoking. As a result a third of the male adult global population smokes.

And all the integers are cold and empty until you look into danger’s eyes and feel the breath of death very close… Mostly it happens when one of humans that are dying from smoking every 8 seconds appears to be yourself or somebody related to you… In a half of a second you’ll remind everything you’ve heard about smoking dangers and will regret that time is a flow without path back.

To know how exactly smoking kills one of ten adults we’ll study the route of smoke from a cigarette. Its destructive walking begins from the moment it appears on cigarette edge. Eyes appear to be the first victim of smoke that damages the retina causing glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and Grave’s ophtalmopathy.

With the start of inhaling mouth, throat and esophagus take the second blow, which often produces cancer of lips, tongue or throat.

An increase of contact area with the smoke enlarges the amount of poisons absorbed into the bloodstream and all the tissues turn out to be supplied with poisoned blood. Carbon monoxide depletes the oxygen carrying capacity of a smoker’s blood. To prevent poisoning the whole organism and brain in particular with bad blood, vessels constrict. All these are resulting in high blood pressure and increased heart rate. Often reiterations of this sequence lead to the set of heart disorders: aneurysm, strike, peripheral vascular diseases, and coronary heart disease. The rise of the blood cholesterol and fibrinogen levels results in building up of fatty substances in the carotid artery and cutting off the blood supply to the brain cells. Anoxia is also promoted by the low level of oxygen in smoker’s blood.

Approximately 70% of the tar in the smoke stays in the lungs. It damages the cells in the airways of the lung and makes cilia unable to sweep away the harmful substances. It causes growth of cells in an uncontrolled way leading to cancer of the lung or larynx. 80% of cases of lung cancer are produced by smoking.

Use of tobacco products makes harm to all parts of digestive system. Smoke interaction with aromatic amines produces bladder and kidney cancer.

The restriction of blood flow to all tissues, caused by nicotine action, also delays the healing of fractures and inhibits the development of new tissue cells. So osteoporosis is a common disorder for heavy smokers.
