The Ultimate Weight Solution by Dr. Phil McGraw

"The Ultimate Weight Solution" trilogy of books, written by daytime television guru Dr. Phil McGraw, detail a commonsense, easy-to-follow weight loss strategy. Of course, nothing about losing weight is simple and, like any lasting weight control plan, this one requires some real work in the beginning. As is implied in the title, though, "The Ultimate Weight Solution" is, ultimately, worth the effort.

What started with a single volume outlining a mind-and-body approach has now expanded into three distinct books, each serving its own vital role. "The Ultimate Weight Solution" walks readers through the seven keys of weight loss, which include adjusting one's own internal dialogue as well as overhauling established eating habits and incorporating intentional exercise into a daily routine.

This is a relatively unique angle which underscores the main thrust of the program - this will be weight loss than lasts, not simply another fly-by-night fad diet that leaves participants hungry and overweight again in the end.

By addressing the psychological reasons behind overeating and related poor eating habits, the groundwork is established to support new eating habits designed to last a lifetime. It's important to note that "The Ultimate Weight Solution" is not simply a diet - it is a complete lifestyle change.

The main publication is supplemented with two others, "The Ultimate Weight Solution Food Guide", which provides detailed information on foods from candy bars and fast food to vegetables and meats, and "The Ultimate Weight Solution Cookbook". Dr. Phil is commonly quoted as saying that the key to weight loss is not self-control, which sounds entirely implausible… but he’s right. Once cravings are eliminated, it is no longer difficult to turn down the slice of chocolate cake, or to avoid stopping for ice cream while taking a walk. Everything begins to taste different as the body adjusts and suddenly eating right isn’t that difficult anymore. Coupled with regular exercise, the ingredients for lasting weight loss are in place.

Although the first couple of weeks (and particularly the first few days) can be challenging, the mental preparation provided by “The Ultimate Weight Solution” makes a world of difference, carrying participants through until the new patterns of healthy eating and exercise are well established. This program is well-balanced, logical, and works.
