Cardiovascular diseases make the real and very serious threat for human health. Since 1900, they are considered to be the major killer of American people, taking thousands of lives every year.
Actually, the group of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) includes heart diseases and vascular system problems, like damaging of arteries and veins. The most serious CVDs are atherosclerosis, coronary disorder, rheumatics, myocarditis and angina.
It is a proved fact that vascular diseases are tightly connected with impotence or erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Such diseases are considered to be the cause #1, leading to development of male ED. Statistics say that about 48% of patients with ED suffer from one or more cardiovascular diseases.
Erectile dysfunction means the inability of penis to erect, and the erection itself is based on the rather simple process in human organism: filling the penis with blood. The heart moves blood through arteries to all human organs, including penis.
Cardiovascular diseases target heart and arteries, which are essential for erection starting and maintaining. So, when the arteries are damaged or narrowed, they can not provide sufficient blood inflow into the penis, resulting in absence or insufficient erection.
The major factors, causing heart and vascular problems are hypertension, high cholesterol level, diabetes and certain lifestyle issues, like heavy smoking or alcohol abuse. All of them work hard to gradually destroy the human organism, causing sexual disorder at first and then leading to more serious consequences, like heart attack etc.
Here I would like to paraphrase one of English proverbs: “Living a healthy life not only keeps a doctor away, but also keeps one’s sexual performance for long, long years”.
There is one more thing, worth of mentioning while speaking about erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular diseases. ED is now effectively treated with such oral pills as Viagra, Cialis or Levitra. There is one serious warning: these pills should not be taken along with nitrates – medications, used to treat some cardiovascular problems, in view of possible serious side effects.

In the meantime, the recent medical research says that refusing nitrate treatment does not increase the risk of heart diseases in patients; moreover they can be substituted by the other effective medications.
Finally, I would like to mention that Viagra itself was originally developed as the treatment of heart diseases at the beginning of 90s. Later scientists noticed an interesting side effect in improving the erection of patients and in 1998 Viagra was approved as the first oral pill for erectile dysfunction treatment.
Thus, taking it helps not only recover the penis erection, but also increases chances to improve heart and arteries performance.
