Benjamin Franklin claimed that “he that can have patience can have what he will”. It is so true in general, as well as in case with Renova – a medication, which is used to improve the state of the skin. This cream helps wrinkled, rough, spotty, and damaged by acne facial skin look better and healthier, though not eliminating, but reducing at least some tracks of age, environmental influence, and acne.
However, the action of the remedy cannot be seen immediately – it takes about 2-6 weeks to notice the positive changes in the skin condition. Therefore, a person willing to start the treatment should also be ready to wait for the improvements and never be disappointed or down in the mouth if the results do not come in the wink of an eye.
Moreover, skin condition can get worse at the beginning of the treatment. However, the skin will get used to the medication with the lapse of time.
It should also be noted that the expediency of Renova use should be evaluated by the doctor if no visible results are obtained in 12 weeks of treatment.
As any other medication, Renova can cause a number of adverse reactions. The most common are allergic reactions, temporary darkening, burning, stinging, tingling, itching, swelling, redness, and dryness of the skin. Sun sensitivity is also often observed. Rash and crusting are far less common. The severity of side effects can be reduced by less frequent application of the drug.
It is a common knowledge that everyone wants to look better; however, not all of us can use the products capable to improve our looks with the same rate of effectiveness. Consequently, the use of Renova by certain groups of patients can rather harm than treat. Therefore, contraindications for Renova usage refer to those who:
- have sunburned, dry, chapped, wounded or irritated skin, or skin affected with eczema;
- are allergic or sensitive to any of the medication ingredients;
- are pregnant, since it is not known whether Renova active component may cause birth defects;

- use any other skin medications containing benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid, in order to avoid skin irritation;
- undergo the treatment with diuretics, antibiotics, and other medications, since in combination with Renova they can cause worsening of the side effects;
- are older than 50 or younger than 18, as well as people with moderately or darkly pigmented skin., while Renova has not been studied for the use by these groups of people.
It should also be noted that using Renova along with rough soaps, shampoos, and skin cleansers, chemical hair removers or waxes, electrolysis, products with alcohol and cosmetics with a strong drying effect may irritate the skin. The best way to avoid any complications or severe side effects while using Renova is to consult a health-care provider and follow all his instructions.
