How to Use Renova to Achieve the Best Results

Renova is a medication used to treat, but not cure, skin conditions as acne and liver spots caused by sun exposure, to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and roughness of the facial skin. If used correctly, Renova can significantly improve the state of the skin and make it look smoother, younger, and healthier.

This cream has tretinoin as the main ingredient, which is the equivalent of the naturally occurring vitamin A. Topical tretinoin is skin irritant, therefore, it must be used with caution and according to the doctor’s recommendations.

In general, there is a number of principles a patient must stick to in order to achieve the best results from treatment with Renova.

Preparing skin to the treatment The cream is used once a day before going to bed. One should thoroughly wash his/her face with a mild soap or alcohol-free cleanser to remove make-up and dirt. However, it is necessary to avoid rough rubbing. Drying the skin should also be done in a gentle way. Renova can be applied to absolutely dry skin. That is why it is recommended to use it not sooner than in 20 minutes after washing. Remember that wet skin will absorb cream more rapidly exposing it to the greater risk of irritation.

How much cream should be used? Only a pea-sized amount of cream is enough to cover the affected areas. Using more medication will not provide better results. On the contrary, applying too much Renova may end in experiencing side effects. These may include reddening, tingling, burning, stinging, itching, etc.

Where can Renova be used? Cover the affected areas on the forehead, chin, and cheeks, smearing the medication until its layer is very thin to avoid its peeling. Renova should not be applied to the wounded or sunburned skin or to the areas affected with eczema and other serious skin conditions. The cream should not be used on the ears and nostrils. Pay special attention not to rub the medicine into the eyes or mouth.

Treatment period The results of the treatment with Renova may become obvious in several weeks or even months. However, a patient should not stop the treatment before time defined by the doctor, even if the improvements are obvious.

Helpful tips It is advised to let Renova remain on the skin at least for a hour before washing the face or applying moisturizer; otherwise, the effectiveness of the medication will be reduced.

In order to avoid skin dryness and peeling, a patient can use a moisturizer. It must also be noted that exposure to the sun must be limited during the treatment period. The best way to avoid sun influence is to use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 15 and higher.

Finally, a patient should inform a doctor about any other medications he is currently treated with to avoid interactions, reduce the risk of side effects, and keep Renova effectiveness on the proper level. This cream should not be used alongside with such medications as isotretinoin, amiodarone, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics, sulfa-drugs or phenothiazines and benzoyl peroxide.

In general, the golden rule while taking any medication is to stick to the doctor’s recommendations and the application sheet.
