How to Give Up Smoking?

If you smoke and want to give up, you, certainly, know how harmful for your health smoking is. Perhaps, smoking has already borne its first fruits. In the given case the word "fruits" does not mean apples or bananas (otherwise smoking wouldn't be so harmful), but such illnesses as cancer of different types, heart diseases, lung diseases, impotence, infertility, bad sight... No, that's not the end of the list! It just needs a separate, long article named "The Harm of Smoking" to enumerate all the potential dangers of smoking. But our topic is "How to Give Up Smoking", so let's talk to the point.

The main remedy, which any smoker must acquire to solve his problem, is... a strong desire to quit smoking. No desire - no result, no matter how much money you've spent or how many methods you've tried. If you already have such desire you may start: at first without any medical influence, just use your will.

Firstly, do not make plans for the very distant future, but just for today. Each morning you have to say, "Today I won't smoke! Maybe tomorrow... but not today!" Then get away all the cigarettes, ashtrays, and lighters from your sight. Ask your friends and relatives never offer a cigarette to you and never smoke in your presence.

If you always want to smoke after a morning cup of coffee, you'll have to quit drinking coffee, too. Each time there appears the desire to take a cigarette the best way to digress from it is to do some physical exercises (by the way, you may buy some kind of sport equipment and use it every time you want to smoke). Moreover, it will be useful for your body!

If your desire appeared to be not so strong, don't be upset and consider another variant. You may try a course of psychotherapy, which can strengthen your will to give up smoking and then you may return to plan A. Besides psychotherapy you may also try hypnosis, special massage or acupuncture for the same purpose.

The selection of "stop-smoking" methods is not limited to these ones. There are special chewing gums, tablets, plasters, and inhalers, which contain small doses of nicotine. Plasters should be used once per day, chewing gums and inhalers - each 2-3 hours. But these preparations are prescribed only by a doctor!

Moreover, you may try different kinds of tea (such as "Feeto Tea Antic"), cigarettes without tobacco, biologically active food supplements (for example - elixir "Nosmoke") or aromatherapy (various types of essential oils). Though these means can be quite effective for some people, they sometimes may cause side effects, especially when used by pregnant or breastfeeding women. That's why they also shouldn't be used without doctor's control.

And even this is still not the end. If you have access to Internet you may get help from a special internet program "Quitkey". The process of your quitting smoking will be divided into 2 stages: stage #1 - you smoke as usual, but register each cigarette in the program; stage #2 - "Quitkey" chooses an individual program for you and you follow it. It's free of charge; but, as for me, people need a strong will for the program to work.

The last method I'm going to introduce to you is... going to school. No, it's not a school you finished once; it's a special school for those, who want to give up smoking. One of such schools has been recently opened in Russia, in Sverdlovsk. It works 2 days per week and it's free of charge. Now you see there is nothing impossible in this world, and if you really wish something you will surely achieve the success. You just have to wish!
