Nowadays hair loss is a problem of many men and women all over the world. Who knows where this problem was some hundred years ago, maybe in far 1600's people didn't go bald or they wore helmets which covered their bald patches... Anyway, in our 2005 year all men suddenly have decided that they are no worse than women and that they don't want to reconcile to their baldness any more. Women have decided that wigs are no longer in fashion and on the whole: "our power is in our hair!". That's why they all are looking for effective hair loss treatments and have difficulties with choosing the right one because...
When you come into the pharmacy you can find a great choice of treatments for hair loss to anyone's taste, as they say. But first of all you must know what makes your hair fall out. The reasons may vary from a badly selected shampoo to one of " the side effects " of pregnancy. The most typical reasons for women, which are more complex than for men, are : diets, stress, pregnancy and sticky hair products ; for men -- age, stress, hormones and diets.
All the problems connected with hair come from its root. So after its examination you can easily find out the cause of your hair loss. You may do it either in a special clinic or by mail (first of all you should order the analysis kit through the internet; then follow the instructions to take hair samples ; send the hair back by mail and in 2-4 weeks you'll receive the results of your analysis), that will cost you 50$ -- don't think it will be cheaper in the clinic!
Knowing the cause of your hair loss you should try to give it up (not in the case of pregnancy, of course!) and may consult the doctor now. He will prescribe the necessary treatment for you. Or you may not go to the doctor and buy the treatment by yourself because, in fact, for the present day, there are only 2 preparations approved by FDA (Food & Drug Administration -- USA) -- Propecia and Rogaine. Of course, there are a lot of other hair loss treatments that guarantee 100% results (!) but they aren't approved by FDA and are not recommended (unless your doctor has prescribed one of them for you). They are some kind of a contraband and may have serious side effects (like baldness, for example! Though it also solves your problem : no hair - no need to worry about its loss!).

Now about real treatments. Propecia is manufactured and distributed by Merck & Co., Inc. It should be taken orally and only by men. Propecia has a little sexual side effect, but it occurs in less than 2% of men.
Rogaine is a liquid medicine. It's already 15 years old but firstly it was used to lower blood pressure. Perhaps you won't believe but the main side effect of this medication at that time was...hair growth! I think its further history is quite understandable. Rogaine is manufactured and distributed by Pfizer and it works better when it's used by women (nobody knows why!).
Certainly, it's better to use any medication under the doctor's control and the named above treatments are not exceptions.
And in conclusion a little piece of advice : to avoid most of your problems just don't be so nervous -- it ruins not only your nervous system but also your hairdo! AM.
