With the arrival of spring and summer not far behind well be wearing shorts, tank tops and baring more skin. This may prompt many of us to start exercising more but what about those who hate to exercise? Many people are physically active but dont like to stick to the regular routine of an exercise program.
When summer rolls around some of us may find that we are less than happy with the appearance of our bodies. A great deal of women are plagued by cellulite, fatty deposits beneath the skins surface that makes our buttocks and thighs look like they are riddled with dimples. Cellulite can make us less enthusiastic about wearing shorts or baring our bikini clad bodies on the beach.
Contrary to popular thought cellulite does not just appear in people that are overweight. Thin people can have cellulite as well. It usually lies mostly in the areas of the hips and thighs. While cellulite is rare in males, it is not totally unheard of. Cellulite is more common in women than men. Most physicians account for this due to the fact that women have thinner skin and their bodies dont contain as much flexible connective tissue as that of their male counterparts.
There are all sorts of treatments that make claims to eliminate cellulite but whether any of them truly work remains questionable. Many physicians still feel that diet and exercise is the bet course of action. While diet alone wont rid one of cellulite it can help lessen the amount of fat stored beneath the skin. Exercise is still the best bet to defend against cellulite. It seems like theres no getting around exercise. Like it or not, the fact is that if you want to shape up, youll have to exercise.
For those that dont like regular routines or going to the gym, work out at home on your own time and at your own pace. You can also exercise without making it seem so much like exercise. Engage in activities that you enjoy like bicycling or dancing. These are great activities to burn calories and tone up your body. When you need a few items from the store, walk there and back instead of driving. Walking is good exercise. Put some power in your walk; take long strides and swing your arms.
Get outside and play ball with the kids. Most children are naturally active and can help parents stay in shape. Make a few trips up and down your household stairs each day. This is a good way to tone up buttocks and legs without even realizing that youre doing it.
When youre at work or out somewhere, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Housecleaning is another form of everyday exercise that helps burn calories. Unless you have thick plush carpeting in every room throughout your house, pick up the broom instead of turning on the vacuum cleaner. Sweeping is another excellent way to burn calories.
Exercise doesnt have to be dull, boring or tedious. Springtime tends to get people motivated so get active, have fun and get in shape. Always use caution when changing or starting a new exercise program. Consult your physician first especially if you have an existing medical condition. Safety is always the first and best measure.
