It is unfortunate but true that many of the medicines, while healing one body organ or function, often do harm to other systems of human organism. For example, a widely known aspirin, which is said to be a real “wonder drug” for its multiple healing properties, as well as other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, does harm to human digestive tract, namely stomach and oesophagus.
Regular use of NSAID pain-killers, alcohol abuse, stress, and certain viral infections may lead to the development of many gastrointestinal disorders, and gastritis is one of them. What is even more dangerous, gastritis is not only about unpleasant feelings in the stomach or heartburn; sometimes it turns into erosive gastritis, which means that that the abnormalities in the digestive tract have already damaged the lining of the stomach or oesophagus.
The point is that mucosal lining of the human digestive tract works like a shield protecting the tissues of the gastrointestinal organs from the aggressive stomach acids, which break down all the food we consume. When this shield gets damaged, stomach acid starts to “burn” tissues of the stomach, intestines, etc; resulting in the so-called “erosions”. In fact, erosions may further develop into ulcers, and that is the main reason to start treating erosive gastritis as soon as possible to prevent further complications of the disorder.
What can we do to prevent erosive gastritis? Of course, first of all, we should avoid known triggers of the disorder, such as spicy food, stress, alcohol, too frequent use of medications. However, there are situations when lifestyle or dietary changes are not enough to stop the problem, and here we should consider medicinal options.
Nowadays, proton pump inhibitors are considered to be the most effective pharmaceutical options to treat erosive gastritis and acid reflux. Protonix is one of the brand medications belonging to that class.
How can it help? - The answer to this question is quite simple – since stomach acid is what causes the health disorder, the best way to treat this disorder is to reduce the amount of stomach acid.
Taken once daily in the morning, one tablet of Protonix “switches off” proton pumps, which produce the stomach acid, thus reducing its amount in human stomach. What is even more important – Protonix helps a human body to heal erosions and restore protective “shield” in the digestive tract. In fact, Protonix does not heal the wounds by itself, it just reduces the amount of acid, thus providing enough time for the organism to restore its systems and heal the damages.
Of course, healing erosions is not a rapid process. Protonix can reduce the symptoms of erosive gastritis, such as heartburn or regurgitation, very quickly; but it should be taken regularly for at least 8 weeks in order to heal all the erosion in the stomach or oesophagus.

The effectiveness of Protonix in healing erosive gastritis was proved by several clinical trials, which showed that 9 of 10 patients had their erosions healed after 8 weeks of starting treatment with Protonix.
So, now it is clear how Protonix can eliminate health problem, often caused by the use of other medications; but still we should not forget that Protonix is also a medication, which may cause its own side effects, such as headache, diarrhoea, nausea, gas and constipation. It seems to be a vicious circle; and often what we are to do is to choose among two evils…

Hello there, I am 25 and I have been diagnosed with Erosive Gastritis. i had been taking a couple of samples of nexium for about 2-3 weeks and had little or no effect on me. I stopped taking nexium and an Aunt of mine gave 400mg tagamet pills to drink once a day and that seemed to work almost instantly.I have know ran out of tagamet and asked my doctor for tagamet but she gave me 300mg doses to take twice a day but that hasnt worked very well the pain is back just not as severe. I am know taking my regular 300mg of tagamet and blended aloe viera(nasty stuff)which i find more effective than any other meds to my condition. I think its slowly working but definitely not as well as the 400mg tagamet. Does any body know what i can do to improve my condition? please contact me to [email protected]
