Any theory, any invention and discovery in this world can be denied and dismissed. Any thing, even the best one, can be proved harmful and bad. That means that we can find positive aspects in bad events and weak-points in good ones.
Let us talk about the process of evolution this time. No long thinking; everyone will confirm that it is one of the best things that ever happened to the human race. Due to the evolution we now have not only the vitally important stuff, like food and clothes, but much more: we can live comfortably.
On the other hand, who said that a primitive was not happy? He had a few problems: how to find food and stay alive. These are also of the same importance today! However, some things are really different. Food, for example.
A primitive man could eat everything he found or caught. Meat, fruits and vegetables, he consumed, were not spoiled by pesticides, herbicides, and pollutant emissions from plants and factories. These days we hardly have a chance to find unpolluted food no matter where we live.
Moreover, to prepare a tasty meal, we bake, boil, stew, fry, grill, broil and roast food. Then we make it spicy, salty, bitter, tart and aromatic. Maybe, it is tasty, but it is far from being natural. The stomach of the human body strives hard to find at least something nutritious in this food. When it fails, problems, like gastritis, begin.
The latter is defined by the scholars like an inflammation of the stomach lining. It can be either acute or chronic.
There is hardly a person in the world, who has not suffered from pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen. This is one of the symptoms of gastritis. The pain usually comes about an hour or so after meals or during the night. It may be described as burning, gnawing, sharp, stabbing, and cutting. Loss of appetite, belching, and bloating are also the signs of the disease.
Among the other, more serious and dangerous symptoms of gastritis, are nausea and vomiting (sometimes of some amount of blood); chest pain; pallor; sweating; "racing" heart beat; feeling faint or short of breath. Some people may experience hunger in an hour after meal, or the feeling of full stomach after eating very little.
Therefore, pain usually indicates the existence of a disease; though, in some cases there may be no symptoms at all. In people, older than 65, the unpleasant feelings tend to occur suddenly, while younger adults may notice the dull pain from time to time, till they understand that it indicates something more serious than just temporary indigestion.
Gastritis can be caused by other reasons than bad food. It can also be a result of the life-style, for example, if a person is used to have a snack late at night or drinks too much alcohol. Many medications (especially NSAID pain relievers) may provoke the disease of the stomach. Helicobacter Pylori gastritis is caused by the bacterium with the same name. Even the immune system of the body itself can mistakenly target the stomach, resulting in autoimmune gastritis.
Therefore, it is just a supposition, though with a high degree of probability, that a primitive had no such problems, like gastritis. Neither had he many other problems to solve. I do not suggest to return to the primitive life, but it is necessary to open our eyes to see the mistakes we have already made, not to make them again in the future. I doubt that all the comfortable conditions of life will substitute health.
Of course, we discussed everything from the point of view of a materialist (thanks to Darwin). The story would be absolutely different if we suggest God to be the primary cause and reason of everything happening
