Lowering Your Cholesterol with Lipitor

The world today lives in crazy rhythm. Life seems to seethe and fasten every new day. You may find it a truism, but it is truly so. People do their best to catch up the rhythm of the day, to manage to achieve the set goals, to keep step with time…

Many of us complain that in the rush of the day we have no time to take care of ourselves, to preserve our health. Nevertheless, it must always be treated as the most important aspect of our life.

Amazingly, there are still many people who manage not to forget and not to be reluctant to take care of their health. One of the most important aspects they pay attention to is the level of the so-called “body bad cholesterol”.

Both good and bad cholesterol is produced in our bodies. It is important and even necessary for the normal functioning of all the organs; however, significantly increased levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, commonly known as “bad” cholesterol) can result in hardening and building-up of the arteries, which may lead to the development of heart diseases and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

They say that following the diet and exercising may help lower bad cholesterol. Nevertheless, for many people these two methods are not enough to reach their aim. In this case they can count on the help of Lipitor – world’s number one prescribed drug for cholesterol lowering.

Lipitor is a medication called to lower the level of low-density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol in blood. It belongs to the statin drugs. Lipitor’s active ingredient is atorvastatin calcium. It works by blocking the production of bad cholesterol in the liver, so that the latter in the course of its functioning must use cholesterol found in blood, which thus results in lowering its levels.

Lipitor is a good option of improving heart health for those, who have family history of heart diseases, who suffer from high blood pressure, and who have problems with heart due to aging processes and smoking. Good candidates for the treatment with this drug are people who cannot control or lower cholesterol levels with the help of dieting and exercising.

Besides, Lipitor can be of great help for people seeking for the possibility to raise HDL – “good” cholesterol, since increasing its levels is another, but not the last, benefit of this medication. Finally, Lipitor lowers the level of triglycerides – potential cause and risk factor for heart diseases, obesity, hypertension, diabetes and other dangerous health conditions.

On the other hand, there are circumstances, when people cannot use Lipitor: pregnant and breastfeeding women, or those planning to become pregnant, patients with liver problems, and people allergic to Lipitor’s ingredients are not recommended to take the drug.

So, if you do not belong to any of these groups you may talk to your doctor about the possibility to be treated with this cholesterol lowering medicine. They say that 98% of patients taking the drug do not experience serious side effects, which is one more benefit of Lipitor. Common adverse reactions include headache, rush, muscle and joint pain, and digestive disorders (constipation, diarrhea, and gas).

However, some people may develop more serious side effects, as liver and muscle problems. In order to avoid these, a patient should inform a doctor before the treatment is prescribed about any health disorders he suffers from and about medications or supplements currently taken. Another key point to remember is strict following to the dose and use recommendations.

Lipitor is said to be safe and effective; nevertheless, physicians state that the best way to lower bad and raise good cholesterol is to use three tools in combination: follow a healthy diet plan, exercise, and use Lipitor.
