Once a woman has chosen an oral contraception as a birth-control method for herself, she signed up for the everyday commitment of taking the hormonal pills. In this way, routine of taking a pill each day gives a woman the feeling of that she is protected.
Birth-control pills are generally based on two synthetically produced estrogen and progestin, sexual hormones that are able to prevent ovulation and thicken cervical mucus (this thickening can prevent or slow sperm entry into the uterus).
Sometimes health care providers prescribe oral contraceptives for the patients who complain of heavy or irregular menstruation, or a condition called endometriosis the of tissue that lines the uterus starts growing in other body areas causing pain and menstruation periods disorders.
Hormonal therapy often causes contradictive opinions and testimonials as for its safety and impact on females body. These chemicals can both be useful and harmful for the person who consumes hormone-based medications.
Most common birth-control pills side effects are upset stomach and diarrhea; to avoid that the pills should be taken with the milk or food. Taking pregnancy preventing pills can also cause hair growth in unusual places, changes in menstrual flow, breast tenderness, enlargement, or discharge, white vaginal discharge; swelling, redness, irritation, burning, or itching of the vagina. You may also notice the brown or black pitches on the skin those are also caused by the hormonal impact.
Hormones action has such a peculiarity, that a woman may either experience weight gain or weight loss, increased or decreased appetite, those symptoms depending on individual womans health features or some external factors.
There is also some good news for those preferring oral contraception. Medical researches of resent times defined the fact, that using the Pill reduces the risk of ovarian cancer. Moreover, ovarian cancer risc decreases with increasing duration of birth-control pills use, each year adding 10 per cent of risk lessening.

Speaking of the breast cancer risk here we have a bit different situation. Besides such factors as an irregular menstruation, late age menopause and not having children, the risk of the breast cancer is also increased by the use of oral contraceptives, especially when the woman starts taking the pills as teenager.
The coagulation process can be affected by the use of oral contraceptives, hence theres a risk of deep venous thrombosis for those being on the pills. Though this risk potentially threatens to those women who have inherited tendency to form blood clots, have high cholesterol level and most notably in smokers over 35.
Whatever makes woman notice changes in body and general state of health while on the pills, that should be a reason to visit a doctor. No matter what you always have contraception options.
