Freddie Mercury sang, “It’s a hard life… It’s a long fight…” There are definitely many problems and difficulties on the life way of every person; however, I dare confirm that there are much more happiness and good things in this world. If every disappointed, frustrated, and desperate person makes an effort and tries to look at this world with his or her eyes wide open, he/she will undoubtedly see and feel all the pleasure and joy of living.
In ancient times life was, probably, not so complicated, without hustle and bustle and constant rush in chase of something. On the other hand, people lacked so many things we have now, things, which make our life better, which help us go on. It concerns every single aspect of our life.
Due to the progress and evolution we now can effectively fight one of the worst “human life spoilers” – diseases. Furthermore, to overwhelm them we invent many different types or forms of the same medications. This is done in order to meet all the needs, for every patient to be able to choose the most suitable and convenient method of treatment.
Imitrex – an effective means to get rid of migraine headaches – comes in three forms (pills, nasal spray, and injection) with the same purpose. The active ingredient, mechanism of action, the field of application and incidence are similar. However, a patient is free to decide which form of the drug is the most convenient for him/her to use.
Many people choose Imitrex pills to fight migraine. They have been available on the market since 1991. Pills are a slow-acting form of Imitrex; however, their incontestable advantage is low rate of side effects incidence.
Imitrex pills are taken whole, with water; the dosage is defined by a doctor for every patient individually. Nevertheless, statistics shows that the most effective and preferable dose among the majority of patients is 50 mg. Those who tend to take 100 mg of the drug are said to prefer it due to the more rapid onset of action.
It should also be noted that sometimes patients ask for the second dose of Imitrex. It usually happens in case if the first dose did not manage to relieve the pain. The patients are, however, warned not to take the second pill sooner than in two hours after the first one. In order to avoid side effects, it is recommended not to exceed the dose of 200 mg of Imitrex during one day.
Imitrex nasal spray entered the market in 1996. Its main advantages are comparatively fast onset of action, low rate of side effects, and convenient portable single-dose packing.
Spray is very convenient to use for those people who have difficulties with swallowing pills. One bottle of Imitrex nasal spray contains 5, 10 or 20 milligrams of the drug. It is taken as a single spray in one nostril. If headache does not subside, the second dose can be taken in two hours, not exceeding 40 mg a day.
Injection of Imitrex is usually chosen if it is necessary to relieve severe migraine in a very short time. The injection is administered below the skin avoiding to make it into a muscle or vein. A patient should never take more that two injections in 24 hours.

Injection was the first Imitrex form to appear on the market. It is the fastest-acting medication of the three forms, but it causes more side effects than pills and nasal spray.
A variety of Imitrex forms allows the patients and their doctors to choose the most effective, convenient, and appropriate way of eliminating pain of migraine attacks. The most important rule sufferers must always remember is to take this medication strictly according to the doctor’s recommendations. Otherwise, they will pose themselves to a great risk of experiencing side effects, which can lead not to rescue from headaches, but to aggravation of their sufferings.
